Slayer are currently in the studio working on the follow up album to 2006's "Christ Illusion" and it will be the bands final album in their recording contract with American Recordings, which is the label founded by Rick Rubin.  In recent interviews lead vocalist Tom Araya talked about the uncertain future of Slayer hinting he couldn't see himself continuing to tour the older he gets.  If Slayer were to cease touring years down the line, you can be certain Kerry King would form another band.  But with who?

We caught up with guitarist Kerry King to get his thoughts on possibly working with other musicians if Slayer were to stop touring and he shared his thoughts on letting an opportunity slip away to play with the late Dimebag Darrell, formerly of Pantera and Damageplan.

"The only way that I would probably play with somebody else, I mean I have a ton of friends in this business who I admire a lot and the first guy would be Zakk Wylde. I was supposed to play with Zakk Wylde and Dime (Bag Darrell) before Dime died. Funny thing is I was talking to Dime and I called him up one day and I said 'You know dude there's this song I think you and I should do and it was 'Snorting Whiskey and Drinking Cocaine' because it's a life style. It's who we are. I was like 'Dime we got to do that.' And he's like 'King, why the f*** do you want to do that? What are we going to do it for?' And I was like 'I don't know man we just need to do it.'"

King also revealed he would only do something major with other musicians if Slayer decided to call it quits.

"I was supposed to do it when he was doing press for the Damage Plan record and he was way under the gun and he said 'You know you can come out today and do it' and I was like 'Why are we rushing, man we got all our lives.'  And I never got to do it so, maybe I'll do it with Zakk one of these days.  But anything major I wouldn't do until somebody in Slayer pulls the plug.  You know if somebody said 'Hey, I'm done.'  Then I'll say 'Oh right, what the f*** am I doing?'"

Recently Slayer was announced as a headliner for the Mayhem Festival, along with Marilyn Manson, Killswitch Engage, Bullet for My Valentine, Trivium, All That Remains and Cannibal Corpse to name just a few.  The tour kicks off July 10th in Sacramento, Ca. and extends until August 16th in San Antonio, Tx.
