Wu Tang Clan are in the mixing stages of their upcoming album '8 Diagrams' and the album, which is set for a November 2007 release, will feature Wu Tang Clans follow up album to 2001's 'Iron Flag.' As The Wu Tang Clan continue to have successful solo careers in many levels of the entertainment industry, the group has continued to tour after the November 2004 Death of Ol' Dirty Bastard, but hasn't released a new Wu Tang album in 6 years. For '8 Diagrams' fans of music will be surprised to hear Wu Tang will be covering The Beatles classic hit 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps.' While this version will undoubtedly show case Wu Tang's originality in song writing and arranging, the band decided to bring in a few special guests as John Frusciante of The Red Hot Chili Peppers is playing guitar and Shavo Odadjian of System of a Down plays the bass.
We caught up with Inspectah Deck of Wu Tang clan during a break in mixing '8 Diagrams' to talk about the bands soon to be released version of 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps.'
"I mean, The Beatles are world famous and Wu Tang is world famous so it all links together and doing that is making it more historic. It's making both of us more historic, you know. No one's ever done that. No one's ever taken a Beatles track and made it hip hop. And done their own version of it so we'll be the first to do that and that's historic."
As Frusciante and Odadjian lend their talents to the mix, the musical visionary RZA also invited George Harrison's son Dhani Harrison to play on the track as well. Inspectah Deck also talked about RZA's musical vision of bringing together John Frusciante, Shavo Odadjian and Dhani Harrison on '8 Diagrams.'
"And that's RZA taking those elements and adding his RZA, his RZA rector aspect to it. So you know it's going to come out crazy when it's all said and done, you know what I mean? That might be one of the tracks that's done actually. He came to us with that vision and he made it happen, so I respect that. I think the worlds gonna like that."
Wu Tang is comprised of RZA, GZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Inspectah Deck, Ghostface Killah, U-God, Masta Killa, and Cappadonna and the band has been at the forefront of Hip Hop since the 1993 debut 'Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers).' '8 Diagrams' is slated for a November 2007 release.
