This summer, Heineken USA will be sponsoring AmsterJam, a one-day music festival featuring the some of the hottest names in music, on Randall’s Island. This is no regular concert, however. The festival not only includes performances by individual artists, but will also feature on-stage, cross-genre collaborations called Mash-Ups. One of the most popular Mash-Ups to date was the collaboration of Linkin Park and Jay-Z, which produced a #1 record last year. AmsterJam will feature performances by 311, Mos Def, Garbage and Fat Joe among others. The first scheduled Mash-Up for the festival will be by Snoop Dogg and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. In addition to the musical performances, AmsterJam will also create the Green Light District, an Amsterdam-like village, for fans to enjoy. The village will include interactive music stations, club lounges, and will feature performances by well-established, and up and coming artists. The event will be organized by Parliament Funkadelic member, Bootsy Collins and will take place on Randall’s Island on August 20. Tickets go on sale Friday, June 3.
