TROPIC THUNDER DEFEATS BATMAN

ROBERT DOWNEY JR ON TROPIC THUNDER HOLLYWOOD SATIRE

Batman couldn’t hold off Ben Stiller, Jack Black, and Robert Downey Jr, as The Dark Knight conceded its top spot at the box office to Tropic Thunder. The Hollywood satire took home 26 million dollars this weekend, but by opening early in some theaters it was able to earn a five day total of 37 million dollars.

The buzz and marketing of the movie was sufficient to draw people to Tropic Thunder, and despite the satiric nature of the film, Downey says it’s more of a love letter to the industry he finds himself a part of.

Rounding out the Top 5 was Star Wars: The Clone Wars at Number 3, Mirrors at Number 4, and Pineapple Express at Number 5.
