Since its opening on Wednesday, August 6, Pineapple Express has earned over 40 million dollars at the box office, but its weekend total of 22 million was two million shy of toppling Batman. The Dark Knight captured its third consecutive Number One at the weekend box office, and industry insiders are saying it’s getting close to the money earned by Star Wars.

Pineapple Express stars Seth Rogen and James Franco and many are surprised at how funny Franco is. He said that it was hard to find a good comedy to work on.

Rounding out the Top Five The Mummy Tomb Of The Emperor Dragon came in at Number Three with over 16 million in sales, Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants was at Number Four with just over 10 million in sales, and Step Brothers came in at Number Five with 6.8 million.
