MIKE SHINODA ONCE AGAIN DONATES PROCEEDS FROM HIS ART TO SCHOLARSHIP
MIKE SHINODA ON MEETING FIRST TIME SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT

After a highly successful art premiere in 2007 with 'Diamonds Spades Hearts Clubs' Mike Shinoda has once again put together his original art work in a Los Angeles Gallery and all the proceeds go to the Michael K Shinoda Endowed Scholarship at The Art Center College Of Design. Shinoda's latest project 'Glorious Excess' is actually a two part series that is running at The Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles until 2009.

We caught up with Mike Shinoda to get his thoughts on once again donating all the proceeds from the sales of his art, whether at the gallery or online to the Michael K Shinoda Scholarship Fund.

"Once again, just like my other art shows and all the art merchandise that's been up on my website at mikeshinoda.com, the proceeds from this are going to my scholarship at Art Center of Design which is a scholarship awarded to illustration and graphic design students based on financial need and on merit.  You have to be good at what you do and you have to honestly need the money to get you through school."

Mike also talked about how rewarding it is for him to see his scholarship come full circle and how excited he was to finally meet the first recipient of  The Michael K Shinoda Endowed Scholarship in person.

"Actually tonight I'm going to be meeting, I didn't mention this to anyone else but I'm going to be meeting the very first recipient of the scholarship for the first time tonight.  His name is Daniel and I'm excited to meet him.  It's so great to see it come full circle.  I'm really excited to meet Daniel and just to know that the scholarship is real.  He's being helped through school and anybody who wants to support that or just likes the artwork, that's what you're doing.  You're doing more than just for yourself getting a cool thing to put on the wall or in your room or whatever, you are helping someone through school."

Mike Shinoda's 'Glorious Excess: Born' is currently on display until August 3rd and then in January of 2009, 'Glorious Excess: Dies,' which is a continuation of this story, opens up to the public. Mike Shinoda and Linkin Park are currently touring on Projekt Revolution. The tour extends until August 24th in Woodlands, Texas. Also a part of the tour are Busta Rhymes, Chris Cornell, Atreyu, Ashes Divide, The Bravery and Street Drum Corps.
